SAN FRANCISCO, April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Harness, the industry's first Continuous Delivery-as-a-Service platform, today announced that it has joined the Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF), a new foundation that was launched by the Linux Foundation in March, 2019. The CDF was founded with the purpose of being a vendor-neutral organization that grows and sustains an open continuous delivery ecosystem. Its mission is to foster collaboration between the industry's top developers, end users, and vendors to evangelize CI/CD and DevOps methodologies, define/document best practices, provide guidelines, and create training materials to enable any software development team around the world to implement CI/CD best practices. By joining the CDF, Harness demonstrates its commitment to foster an ecosystem of Continuous Delivery solutions designed for modern, complex microservice environments.

Continuous Delivery is a software engineering approach in which teams produce software in short cycles, ensuring that the software can be reliably released at any time. With the increased use of microservices and cloud native architectures, continuous delivery tools and practices are in greater demand, providing improved velocity and productivity for software development teams.

Harness brings the power of enterprise Continuous Delivery to DevOps and engineering teams, empowering them to move fast and ship code without the fear of failed deployments. With its Smart Automation technology, Harness helps automate the entire continuous delivery process. By applying unsupervised machine learning to the process — a new technology called Continuous Verification — the platform understands an application's baseline environment and can initiate automatic rollbacks when irregular activity is detected, avoiding application downtime or widespread failures.

"The complexity of disparate and disjointed DevOps tooling has been a major challenge in the adoption of CD in the enterprise. Harness was founded with the mission to simplify and make CD available to every software engineering organization," said Jyoti Bansal, co-founder & CEO of Harness. "We are firm believers that open APIs, standards, and integrations between all developer and DevOps tooling is a must-have to reduce the complexity of these toolchains. We are excited to participate in the new Continuous Delivery Foundation and help define some of these open APIs and standards for the betterment of not only our fast-growing customer base but for the entire DevOps community."

As part of its membership in the CDF, Harness plans to take an active role in helping foster collaboration between the various industry vendors. For end users, Harness plans to evangelize CI/CD and DevOps methodologies as well as define and document best practices.
