AWS recently announced an extension of its Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service Anywhere (EKS Anywhere) offering, so users can now manage their Kubernetes clusters on bare metal servers in their own data centers. The announcement of EKS Anywhere Bare Metal brings Harness customers the velocity of application deployments in EKS to hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
In September 2021, AWS released EKS Anywhere as an open source project providing enterprises the flexibility to deploy a consistent EKS platform in their own data centers, provided they were running VMware. With EKS Anywhere Bare Metal, enterprises with spare physical node capacity in their data centers can deploy EKS without the requirements of additional licensing or complexity. This benefits enterprises in the regulated public sector and global financial sectors where some workloads can’t be placed into cloud resources for security or data sovereignty reasons, but there are also advantages with EKS and the performance of physical servers.
Harness, the modern software delivery platform company, enables businesses to easily deploy their applications to both cloud and traditional infrastructure confidently with velocity, governance, quality, and efficiency. Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Harness can leverage the metrics and logging tools customers are already using to validate their applications are successfully deployed and roll them back if they are impacting users. Combining the flexibility of Harness’ Software-as-a-Service or on-premise platforms with the Amazon EKS, EKS Anywhere, and now EKS Anywhere Bare Metal is a natural and synergistic combination.
“Harness is proud to support the launch of Amazon EKS Anywhere Bare Metal as it delivers on our customers’ requirements for governance, security, and performance throughout the software delivery lifecycle," said Brant Williams, Harness Vice President, Partners and Alliances. "Supporting a cloud native solution with bare metal is a natural fit for Harness, and it brings great value to our customers in financial services and the public sector.”
To get started, sign up for a Harness Account, deploy a delegate to your EKS Anywhere Bare Metal cluster, and configure your connector to the cluster in our UI.
