Celebrating $150M In New Financing to Accelerate Innovation

Our mission at Harness is to revolutionize how software is developed and deployed, ensuring that every team can deliver code to their users quickly, reliably, and efficiently. At the core of our mission lies a deep commitment to empowering the world’s 30+ million software developers with the tools, knowledge, and resources to excel at their work. 

I’m thrilled to share that Harness has raised $150 million in new financing from Silicon Valley Bank and Hercules Capital. This additional funding will fuel our mission of maximizing developer productivity and reducing developer toil by providing a comprehensive DevOps and Software Delivery platform. 

We recently surveyed 500 engineering leaders and practitioners and found that toil – the prevalence of manual, repetitive tasks – is the main obstacle to software teams achieving their goals. In fact, developers spend 40% of their time doing work about work, not actually coding. That wasted time is costing companies about $1 trillion each year! 

We started Harness with the goal of building a software delivery platform that removes the manual work from software development and unlocks developer productivity with the smartest, fastest, and most innovative software in the world. I’m energized by the progress we’ve made since launching in 2017, and we’re just getting started. 

Today, every company is a software company. Organizations are moving quickly to transform their software delivery processes, and Harness has never been in a stronger position to partner with them on their journey. More than 600 companies like Citigroup, United Airlines, Nike, Choice Hotels, and Ulta Beauty rely on Harness to reduce their teams' toil. We’ve grown rapidly – one of very few companies to have grown from $1M to $100M in just five years. It hasn’t always been easy, and I’m thankful to the Harnessians who have worked tirelessly to get us here. 

Our journey continues onward. I’ve always said that we’re on a path to $1 billion in ARR as we build the next-generation platform for software development and DevOps. As we accelerate into 2024, here are a few of the areas I’m most excited about for Harness: 

1. Building a best-in-class software delivery platform and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. 
2. Expanding our investment in practical and innovative AI use cases across the entire software delivery lifecycle. 
3. Bringing new product modules to the market to continue to deliver value for the variety of use cases our customers are demanding
